Outlook cannot open and present OST file items properly. It results in this error.<br \/>\nFollowing are some reasons behind corruption of OST file:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Presence of viruses in computer<\/li>\n<li>Invalid directory permissions<\/li>\n<li>Corrupt file system<\/li>\n<li>Damaged storage device<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Following is the solution to fix this error.<\/p>\n<h2>Solution<\/h2>\n<p><b>Step 1: <\/b>Backup your OST file. If data loss occurred in the process, then you can restore the file from backup and try solution again.<\/p>\n<p><b>Step 2:<\/b> Close all applications which are using <a href=\"https:\/\/mygiz.com\/what-is-outlook-ost-file-how-to-access-it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OST file<\/a> including outlook.<\/p>\n<p><b>Step 3: <\/b>Find OST file in your computer. You will get its path in error message. Alternatively you can search from file explorer to find the OST file. Copy it to other path.<br \/>\nBelow are some default possible locations of this file.<\/p>\n<p>In Outlook 2010, Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2016, the OST file resides in the Documents\\Outlook Files folder.<\/p>\n<p>In Outlook 2010, you will find it in a hidden folder in these locations:<br \/>\nOn Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8<br \/>\nC:\\Users\\user\\AppData\\Local\\Microsoft\\Outlook<\/p>\n<p>On Windows XP, you will find it here C:\\ Documents and Settings\\user\\Local Settings\\Application Data\\Microsoft\\Outlook<\/p>\n<p><b>Step 4:<\/b> Recover OST file data by any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozesoft.com\/emailmigration\/ost-to-pst-converter.html\">OST to PST file converter tool<\/a>. The tool can create PST file which holds your all offline data.<\/p>\n<p><b>Step 5:<\/b> Delete or rename OST file and start outlook. Make sure your email account settings and configuration is correct. If everything goes well, then outlook will create new OST file for you. This file will have only the data which synchronized from Exchange mailbox server.<\/p>\n<p><b>Step 6:<\/b> If Step 5 did not works then it means your profile is incorrect. Delete all incorrect profiles and add new profile.<\/p>\n<p>Go to Control Panel&gt;Mail&gt;Show Profiles. Delete incorrect profiles one by one.<br \/>\nThen create a new profile by going to Control Panel &gt; Mail &gt; Data Files&gt; Add.<\/p>\n<p>Open outlook and check new OST file is created or not.<\/p>\n<p><b>Step 7: <\/b>You need to import your offline data to new OST file. Keep newly created OST file open and open PST file created in step 4. That PST file have all your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozesoft.com\/emailmigration\/ost-to-pst-converter.html\">data recovered from corrupted OST file<\/a>. Copy items which you need or import all items. Restart outlook.<\/p>\n<p>Now error is fixed. You have new OST file with your recovered offline data.<br \/>\nTry to check reason behind the corruption of OST file.
